I could still remember that time when a foreign reporter narrated the realities on the ground after a catastrophic event happened in this country, everyone was so happy (some considered him a hero) that it highlighted the real scenario of what is really being done on the ground. Many said that it took a foreign journalist to point out several things for the truth to come out and they're very thankful. Just recently, a travelling blogger, a foreigner, created a blog post of her experience visiting the Philippines. In her post, she found Filipino food unlikable making it to her "will never eat again list". A description of her experience eating street foods; in an eatery or karenderya as we called them and those not so fresh vegetables and fruits found in the local market or palengke. Telling about her experience which is also the reality everyone seems to come out hating her. Their reason, she didn't went to popular places that serves "real" Filipino food, wrong place to eat, some said. But to really look into her post, what she did was simply tell about her experience, the reality of every Filipino who doesn't eat at good restaurants, like most of our daily workers who live in a small budget. I think her post just opened the reality of food quality in our famous karenderya's and public markets, where food safety and quality are sometimes not monitored or maybe not at all. Peace!
After a much heated campaigns the election fever are almost finally over. Pending the final canvassing of votes by the congress the people have chosen a new leader to rule the country for the next 6 years. The presumptive president is a mayor from a city down south of the Philippines known for his iron fisted style of government. What makes this election interesting is the process on how people now choose their leaders. Traditionally, we oath to go for people with great experience, plans, smart and proper character and attitude someone we normally call 'honorable'. This election changed that idea, people now go for leaders with real simple plans to solve recurring problems in the society, strong work portfolio to showcase their capability to govern and implement real solutions. Good luck to the newly elected president, I wish you well in your quest to change this country into something everyone wish it should be. Peace!
