Had an inquiry about which is better Ipad or Galaxy Tab from a friend of mine. I would always suggest that you need first to understand what are your needs and purpose of getting a tablet. For example, you want a Facebook apps, read news, send email or put simply productivity stuff both of them can deliver. Where will the difference be, if you intend to use your tablet for some presentation like in a projector Ipad is more likable, not saying that Galaxy tab don't have one for that. There's an Apple Video cable adapter easily mounting your Ipad to the VGA port of the projector while Samsung Galaxy Tab have a TV out cable through RGB ports... Peace!

Just came back from a 4 days tour in Manila with our IT and CS students, was able to get another sbux city mug this time from Tagaytay. Good thing that the students enjoyed their trip and was able to visit some IT firms and got some idea what awaits them after they graduate later on. After a week, the 2nd half of the school year starts, I was told that it will be an all Android app development classes for me. I'm a bit excited for this one and hope to share a lot of things to my students... for now.. peace!

June! Time is really running so fast these days, school starts next week. Last month I was fortunate to attend a week long training on android sponsored by SMART telecom in CIT Cebu. It was a great experience and new things learned, also nice to see and bond with my old students Chaztine and Herian in Ayala. Tried Gelatissimo for the first time and it was good, I'm really dying to try the affogato-style but was not able to, hope to do that when I'll have a chance next time. Till next time, peace!

There's a new traffic lights being installed right exit of Robinsons Place Bacolod, this is a good news to ease up the traffic in that area, it is but important to consider that there are areas that also need traffic lights. Just this afternoon while waiting for a friend in a hamburger joint near Lacson street, I saw these 4 girls with a puppy. They're like passing it around, taking pictures like a toy, I just don't know how stressful it feels like for the puppy to be handled like a stuffed toy. Owners should be more responsible, more than its cuteness, it has feelings too. Got a new Starbucks mugs from Taiwan through a friend of mine. Peace!

When the football national team known as the Azkals reached the AFF 2010 Suzuki Cup semi-finals the nation suddenly woke up from its deep sleep and started the hype of bringing back the game of football to the mainstream. When the nationals played the home game against Mongolia for the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 qualifier, again the nation showed its outpouring support. Today, everyone is so excited for the 2014 World Cup qualifier game against Sri Lanka with the hopes that we get through the 2nd round of the competition and hopefully, yes, with so much faith, that hopefully we will be there in Brazil for the world cup and get to score our 1st ever world cup goal.

But we have a challenge right in front of us. Everyday I open up a newspaper and on to the sports section, not a single news is written about football, I open my television and found no show telling me the latest about my favorite sport and sadly even on the radio there is nothing. This is a basketball nation, we must admit and media coverage is great, from the PBA, NBA, UAAP and even the tournament from a small barangay. If you are in Europe and Latin America or just even in our neighboring countries like Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia news about football is everywhere, FA Cup, Premier League, La Liga and so many other leagues within the region. If we want football to be known and followed, encourage the young to participate or simply have the interest and successfully have a grassroots development, we must put football in our news first, just like how we give importance to basketball, surely we can revive football from its current state. The media will play a vital role in our dream of having that 1st goal in the world cup, if we don't we will be forever cheering for the Azkals, just the them. Peace!

I'm a coffee lover no doubt, not an expert when it comes to taste but I know my coffee when it's a good one. Here in my school, there's a newly opened cafe managed by the university, it is called English Cafe. The name English Cafe has nothing to do with english coffee or England coffee variants but was given to promote english as a language. The cafe was built beside the USLS - Language Center, according to the USLS website.

The English Café, designed by Arch. Glenn de Guzman, is a two-storey coffee shop which aims to provide students especially those enrolled in the English for Global Communications (EGC) program, faculty and staff, a place where they can bond together while using the English language during conversations.

I tried their espresso and find it good, it has the kick I'm looking in my cup. Though I'm not really impressed with the tainted window glass. What's the thing about tainted windows then? You see, when you are having your dose of that highly valued hot black liqiud, you will also feel like observing how time passes by before you, if you know what I really mean with that. In most of the cafes if not all, you will observe that they have this wide clear windows, it adds light to the place, invites customers and creates a relaxing environment. But yeah, the next time you are inside the campus, don't forget to drop by English Cafe, nice tasting coffee. Peace!...

Am I a good giver? Not really, but when I do, I make sure that I'm doing it because I want to. Why am I saying this? Just yesterday I saw a bunch of people in their fancy cars gathered a number of pedicab drivers and had their photo taken while giving out some bags of goodies. I really thought that it was really meant to share some love to all those people who went out their way believing they'll get something but later daw a lot of them leaving the area with not a single bag with them. Maybe I am wrong to judge other people or maybe they were paid after that or maybe they really allowed themselves to be part of that but the very least I could say is this shame on you people who uses the poor to look good in the eyes people. On my finals days here in Cebu, IBM training is running well, recived 2 completion certificates already and the 3rd one on Thursday. What I liked about this training is the new ideas that surrounds the development and management of web applications running in IBM framework. I'm not a fan of java server pages or JSP and have no plans in using it for my future developments, I still believe PHP is the way to go for web application development, light requirements, open source and easy to manage. There's a lot of advantages in utilizing the IBM framework specially for a large scale development... more on this next time... peace!

I lost my temper yesterday while doing a transaction on an ATM after a lady who can't wait to have her turn started to complain that I'm taking too long doing my transaction, got really pissed but I'm better now... Can somebody like Nicanor Perlas or JC Delos Reyes win the presidency? Seriously... The campaign period started for the national positions last Monday and the Comelec started handling decisions for electoral protest filed after the 2004 elections, it took them almost 3 years to do that and as expected those who are aligned with the Glueria administration won the election not through the poll but inside the Comelec doors... Can you imagine a priest turned governor is now a cheater, yes, that's what the Comelec wants us to believe... Now, I really doubt the capability of the Comelec to provide a clean and honest election, with the full election automation on track and failures during the field test, I wonder now what will happen during the day of the election on May... Failure of election??... peace!

Year 2009 is not really a big year for me, life goes as usual with a little ups and downs, big story that caught my attention is the death of the former President Cory Aquino. She is the 1st woman president of this country, the one who restored freedom from a dictator and I can say that she is well loved by the Filipino people. Her death did not come as a surprise, she was fighting the big C - cancer. Her legacy will forever be in the books of history and will always be remembered. Now, what's with the incoming year 2010, I don't know, whatever this new year brings, I just hope that it would be for the better of everyone not only to myself but also to all the human beings. Let's just hope that this year will be the beginning of a new life, new leadership and new vision for the better good of man. Year 2010, year of the Metal Tiger! roar! Glueria declared martial law in Maguindanao, (full text of the Proclamation No. 1959). We understand that there's danger in the area after the massacre, big questions arises from the proclamation though, 1) The constitutionality of the said proclamation 2) The need of such proclamation 3) The danger of the proclamation, It is a common knowledge that under the martial law, the writ of habeas corpus is suspended and the military has the full control of almost everything. It was 38 years ago, when the country experienced military control and the public don't feel comfortable with this actions by the Glueria government. Is this a prelude to a wider coverage? Dry run daw sabi nila. One reason of the declaration is rebellion.

WHEREAS, R.A. No. 6986 provides that the crime of rebellion or insurrection is committed by rising publicly and taking arms against the Government for the purpose of xxx depriving the Chief Executive or the Legislature, wholly or partially, of any of their powers or prerogatives.”

If i could remember it right, this administration declared a state of rebellion for how time already in the past, so what's the guarantee that no rebellion (could be self made?) will happen until the end of her term. Let's make it fair, the government is just doing the right thing to stop the abuse of a clan in that province and hopefully justice will be served for all the vistims, but as what Sen. Kiko have said, kahit illegal ok lng?... let's just keep our eyes and ears open... peace!

i really find it funny to see this scripted convincing acts the gloria camp is doing, it's like showing the public that there's really a clamor for her to run as a representative in a district back in her province, if you really mean to help people you don't need to be an elected official to actually help them, look at how former presidents of the US have done things after their presidency, reality is that there's a real reason behind all of this drama and the actors are not doing it well, power in government is really addictive... tsk2x... peace!...

2 more days and 2nd semester starts, yeah, we're starting on the 3rd of November which also means early school year end for us... today is the last day for the 2010 election registration all over the country, COMELEC is open until 12am tonight to accommodate those last day registrants... over the news some people are losing their cool with the ongoing registration due to the long lines and maybe with the not so organized flow of the registration... since December last year there are already around 3 million new voters who registered, errr.. wait... did i say December? yes i did, and only if these people tried to register earlier they will not face this kind of problems anymore, long lines, shortage of registration forms and waiting as early as 6am and finally registering 12 hours later... this attitude of "mamaya na [later]" is bringing us to no where, we always talk about change in society but we need to understand that to attain change it should start from within us, not from the person in power or the leader that enjoys the privileges of being one... happy halloween everyone!.. peace!...

So the president signed RA 9716 creating a new district in Camarines Sur (CamSur) province in Bicol region. Now what?

"Section 5-3, Article 6 of the Constitution requires a minimum population of 250,000 for a local government unit (LGU) or clusters of LGUs to be declared a congressional district. Each district should be composed of a “contiguous, compact, and adjacent territory."

While we need to see the latest census considering the booming population of our country, for now it is right to say that differently it fails to qualify as a new district and RA 9716 is unconstitutional.

No Vice-President shall serve for more than two successive terms. Voluntary renunciation of the office for any length of time shall not be considered as an interruption in the continuity of the service for the full term for which he was elected.

Former President Estrada finally declared his full intention to run for the presidency for the 2nd time around, he said "This is the last performance of my life,". Everyone can still remember EDSA 2, the moment when the former president was ousted from power but the court said the otherwise. I started this entry with a quote from the constitution that clearly states that "The president shall not be eligible for any re-election. " one needs not to be a lawyer to fully understand the statement. I was reading some news articles and advisers to the former president argued that he is still qualified to run for a 2nd term. What I don't know is the would be argument they will present to the court the moment his participation in the upcoming elections is put into a legal question. There's a Supreme Court ruling [G. R. Nos. 146710-15 March 2, 2001 JOSEPH E. ESTRADA, Petitioner,-versus-GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, Respondent.] where the court ruled that "In sum, we hold that the resignation of the petitioner cannot be doubted.". Section 4 of the constitution states that "Voluntary renunciation of the office for any length of time shall not be considered as an interruption in the continuity of the service for the full term for which he was elected.". Now to sum up, a) Is the former president a duly elected president of the Republic in 1998? Yes. b) Did the former president resigned in 2001? Yes. c) Can the former president run for re-election this coming 2010? by virtue of the two discussed provisions of the 1987 Constitution and my own interpretation, its a big NO... Remains to be seen are the arguments to be presented by any camp that will question the legality of this issue, all will be heard and used by Supreme Court for its decision. For now, let's just wait until the day when the former president formally files his candidacy... peace!

A typhoon poured a rain equivalent to one month in just one day in Manila which caused a massive flooding, it forced millions of people out of their homes and destroying billions worth of properties. Never in history that this kind of flooding occurred and no one even expected it to happen. A few weeks later another storm hits the island resulting to land slides at the northern part of the country and the flooding destroyed crops. Why is this happening? To answer, we need to climb up our mountains and see for ourselves if we still have trees; we need to go outside and smell the air we breath; or maybe we simply need to open our eyes and understand that we are the culprit. We need to act to improve the quality of our atmosphere, go for renewable energy, eliminate fossil fuels, protect our nature, plant more trees, let's reuse and recycle.

been very busy for sometime now, i'm inside my MIT class as of this moment with a reporter in front, topic is about Process Management Software... i did mine a few weeks ago and my topic was on E-Commerce... last night together with some faculty, we did a round of basketball practice, we have set a game with the ITC guys on the 21th just for fun, funny thing is, it was my first physical activity for the past how many years already, i ended losing my breath after a few runs and shooting... hehhe, so i planned to go out and jog in the afternoon after class just to help increase my stamina level... there's this plan for a faculty trip to singapore this coming october and i feel like going, i need to renew my passport though and need to save for the fare, i hope i could go... peace!

i just learned a new thing when coding tables in html for IE8, i faced this problem of extra white space below the row as shown in the figure below...

this is how the code looks like...

fixing the problem, i can't seem to find where it went wrong so i tried coding with a different structure this time...

after that it looks like this...

now i learned that the coding structure matters when it comes to IE8 rendering, unlike in other browsers like firefox where spaces after the image is considered as nothing, i assume IE considers this to have a space character thus creating a white space just below the row... just a cent... peace!

stayed up until 2 am last night watching the wimbledon finals between roger federer and andy roddick... the game lasted for more than 4 hours with 5th set ending with 16-14 for federer... it was a tough game, andy was unbreakable the whole game the only time federer broke his serve cost him the title... federer now has 15 grand slam on his resume making him the greatest player ever and regained the number 1 spot at the ranking... peace!...

first post for the month of May, whew! am i that busy?... not really, just not in the mood to post an entry but anyway i'm doing it now... so what's up with me right now... hrmmm... currently doing the project that we need to deliver by the end of the month, i'm almost done with the record module and need to see the client to finalize some report generation formats... at the moment i'm working on the POS module, i find it really interesting and at the same time challenging doing this one, you know why? it's a web based POS, normally you would see this kind of system done in higher language like visual basic or C++(i have yet to see web based POS that functions like the desktop), in our part we want it done differently and implemented easily added to that is the ease on maintenance and the development cost is a way cheaper that the usual, though the cross browser issue is still a brain drainer... to my angel, always thinking of you... peace!
